Lets Go Down the Rabbit Hole
Welcome to my blog that I’ve created as my entry for the Cambridge University Press Bursary prize. If I was to win, this bursary will contribute towards my fees for the academic year.
However, I want this blog to be much more than just an entry for a competition. My aim of setting up this blog is with my readers in the forefront of my mind. I have been a keen reader from a very early age, and I now want to pass my love and enthusiasm for YA literature onto you. I want to encourage you to explore and learn through the variety of wonderful novels available to you. The purpose of my blog is to share my thoughts and opinions on current news circulating through the publishing industry and how this is shaping and affecting YA fiction.
Through doing this I hope not only to expose you to new novels, but also to start thinking about how to reach out to modern readers and gain interest in making reading part of a young adults everyday life. I am keen to explore how the idea of book trailers would work for the young adult, I recently completed a trailer for a piece of theatre in my undergraduate degree and was overwhelmed by how much response this received. I believe that this could be a powerful tool for attracting readers to new novels and am eager to explore this further.
Overall, this blog is about you. I want this to be a place where you can escape, learn, and feel part of a community where literature and fiction are at the heart. Books have, and should continue to be part of our lives. I hope you will join me as we explore another world, Down the Rabbit Hole…
